I'm also in real estate, in So. Calif. Regional markets move differently from one another. Here, in my small area of expertise, homes for sale as of 7/1 increased 39% from same on 6/1, however, closed sales were about the same for June and July.

Any national reporting service will have figures that are at least one month old. I do my own calculations using local data, so have them immediately at end-of-month.

I'm definitely "feeling" a slowdown in housing here in L.A. Don't know if that helps.

Source for housing stats. Good news, bad news. Here's a good source, but it costs. (I'll try to find a free source after market closes.) http://store.builderbooks.com/cgi-bin/builderbooks/114?;;NAHB00
