Michael D. Becker has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer since December 2002. Mr. Becker joined us in April 2001 and has served in positions of increasing responsibility, including Chief Executive Officer of our AxCell Biosciences subsidiary and Vice President, Business Development and Industry Relations. Prior to joining us, Mr. Becker was with Wayne Hummer Investments LLC, a Chicago-based regional brokerage firm from July 1996 to April 2001, where he held senior positions as a biotechnology analyst, investment executive and portfolio manager in addition to participating in sales management activities. From October 1998 to April 2001, Mr. Becker also served on the board of directors for the Chicago Biotech Network, a nonprofit trade association for the biotechnology industry in Illinois. Mr. Becker attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. In January 2007, Mr. Becker was named Chairman of the Biotechnology Council of New Jersey, Inc. Mr. Becker is a member of the Governing Body of Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) Emerging Companies Section.
