MN is right, but you do have to keep a detail document for possible audit(you don't neccessary need to send it in but my accountant always do). If you have Etrade, you can download their excel spreadsheet annually and keep a raw record of it.

If you don't have a full service accountant or if you don't use the online schedule D prep tool call "Gains Keeper" here is their fees..

Please note that this only applies, if you renew at the same subscription level or higher and prior to the expiration account date. Any accounts renewed on or after the expiration date (or at a lower subscription level) will reset with a new trade count.
