doesnt matter, SCMI is not trying to prevent hackers from ripping music. SCMI is just trying to stop the casual CD duplicator. I believe MM5 will provide that tech.
Plus the labels just wants something that emphasizes "DO NOT COPY THIS WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION" and also something that has 100% playability.
And downloading music is not an option for everyone. Sure you may have cable/dsl, but according to statistics, only 17% of America has cable/dsl modems. And for the 83% of the U.S., good luck downloading music with a 56k modem. It takes hours to download a single song. Downloading 15 songs will cost more on your phone bill than buying a CD costs.
And who cares what the bashers say. If the labels want it and put it on their product, we get $ which is what's happening as I speak.
