spree -- absolutely irrelevant -- the House would not be the ones to make that decision -- and if that decision were made, as it would be by the EXECUTIVE BRANCH, what would the House (especially THIS House) do about it, or even be able to do about it? -- nothing -- in particular since following the declaration of martial law that almost certainly would coincide with the EXECUTIVE BRANCH calling off the elections, Congress and the courts would at least for some period of time be suspended if indeed they weren't simply abolished, either at the same time or at some point shortly thereafter -- existing executive orders provide that if martial law (a 'national emergency') is declared, all power rests in the EXECUTIVE BRANCH and neither Congress nor the courts can review or have anything to say about what happens after that for at least 60 days or 6 months (depending on which of those existing executive orders they proceed under) -- and in all likelihood they never would get to have any say ever, as once absolute power were taken it is extremely unlikely that it would ever be given up -- your blithe and poorly-informed faith and belief that 'it can't happen here', as shared by so many others in this country, is in fact one of the prime reasons that it indeed can happen here -- and the signs that this administration is considering exactly what you assert can't happen are in plain sight -- as just one example, dubya's hand-picked guy Soaries, a baptist minister, at the Elections Assistance boondoggle that has been promoting touch-screen/un-recountable no-paper-trail electronic voting machines, openly floated the idea, and could have done so only on dubya's direct order -- bottom line, dubya has that power under existing executive orders, and is clearly the only president we've had since those executive orders were put into place who clearly would like nothing better than to exercise that power -- it doesn't matter if you want to or do believe it or not, that's the situation we face -- hopefully it won't happen -- but anyone who thinks it can't is simply, and dangerously, wrong
