Affitech's symbol is AFFI so if we call it AFFI or Affi I think we'll all know what we mean and it will save us typing out the whole name. PPHM's potential is so big that it is mind-boggling. Some have suggested that it is the viral side that may explode first...the Duke/Haynes and DTRA developments are potentially huge...and something Roche may not be able to control. Of course one or two middle sized cancer partnerships would also change the financial picture which I agree, will help people focus on the great science.

Entdoc

You could very well be right about Roche. I have been saying for a while that they have too much to lose if pphm succeeds. Bavi is too broad spectrum and would cut into Avastin across the board. If it was just pphm and one drug for one indication then it would not be a threat. Also if it was just pphm trying to get Bavi to the finish line for one indication then no problem.

However, the real threat is another drug company with strong financial capability getting their hands on Bavi and doing many trials at once. I believe that was the real beauty in management structuring our trials the way they did even on a shoestring budget. It showed off the potentially vast capabilities of bavi which in the right hands could greatly change the monetary returns from Avastin.

IMO management started thinking this way when they put the poison pill in effect. My guess is they started getting inquiries as the science world started getting wind of Bavi and it made management nervous as they did not have the power to stop a hostile takeover at a low number.

If I was a crazy person I would say that they already have a deal in place at $11/share with Affitech/Roche all contingent on milestones being met. If I was really crazy I would say due to a shortage of money and it taking longer to reach milestones Roche found a way through Affitech to get control of R84 so they could move it along while they waited.

Since this post has been long enough I won't get into all the little things that give me the gut feeling that there is more happenning than meets the eye, however, I will also keep buying shares until they can't hold the price down any further or any bad news comes out.
