so no reaction to 'Upcoming Military Robots Eat Bodies'?

really?

this is not a joke -- quite real -- the key is that engine, and the way the 'organically-based energy sources' 'ingested' by the robots are made by the robots into the 'fuel' injected into and burned in that engine -- by atomization, by an inch by inch, millimeter by millimeter process of turning into a very fine mist -- if these ever get to the point, sorry, make that when they do get to the point where (there are enough different types/capabilities of them so that) they can take charge of making duplicates of themselves, we've got a neo-Terminator sort of green goo -- toss in that even without quantum computing, within something like 20 years single computers will become more powerful than single human brains, and maybe 20 years after that a single computer will be more powerful than all human brains combined (and major advances/actual accomplishments happening in AI) (major advances now coming rapidly in realizing quantum computing, as well) -- to serve man -- . . .

Company Denies its Robots Feed on the Dead
By Noah Shachtman July 17, 2009 | 3:32 pm | Categories: Bizarro

I never imagined I’d print a press release in full. Then, an hour ago, Howard Lovy e-mailed me the most incredible press release of all time…

POMPANO BEACH, Fla.– In response to rumors circulating the internet on sites such as FoxNews.com, FastCompany.com and CNET News about a “flesh eating” robot project, Cyclone Power Technologies Inc. (Pink Sheets:CYPW) and Robotic Technology Inc. (RTI) would like to set the record straight: This robot is strictly vegetarian.

On July 7, Cyclone announced that it had completed the first stage of development for a beta biomass engine system used to power RTI’s Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot (EATR™), a Phase II SBIR project sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Defense Sciences Office. RTI’s EATR is an autonomous robotic platform able to perform long-range, long-endurance missions without the need for manual or conventional re-fueling.

RTI’s patent pending robotic system will be able to find, ingest and extract energy from biomass in the environment. Despite the far-reaching reports that this includes “human bodies,” the public can be assured that the engine Cyclone has developed to power the EATR runs on fuel no scarier than twigs, grass clippings and wood chips – small, plant-based items for which RTI’s robotic technology is designed to forage. Desecration of the dead is a war crime under Article 15 of the Geneva Conventions, and is certainly not something sanctioned by DARPA, Cyclone or RTI.

“We completely understand the public’s concern about futuristic robots feeding on the human population, but that is not our mission,” stated Harry Schoell, Cyclone’s CEO. “We are focused on demonstrating that our engines can create usable, green power from plentiful, renewable plant matter. The commercial applications alone for this earth-friendly energy solution are enormous.” (emphasis in the original)

Last night, down near the very bottom of your post, I had clicked on the robotictechnologyinc link. After reading most of one of their pdf files, I clicked around to see what clients they have:
http://www.robotictechnologyinc.com/index.php/clients
I wondered if some of our tax dollars are going to help this country create robots that can eat dead bodies. I also wondered how war could possibly be any more depersonalized than it already is. Well, apparently it can.
Imagine this coming into your home to seek out the 'terrorist'......
