Good questions, Pete....would be nice that all interested/involved parties saw the actual readings versus analyses.

Markgovals, with your knowledge/JDA contacts, could they reply to these questions?

Thanks,

Pete,

It is not just logs that these estimates are calculated from.

Generally to determine the viability of a field the exploration company will drill minimally 2 to as many as 4 wells at each well they will run a flow test (how much oil is produced in a 24 hour period with a certain choke), then they shut the well in with a pressure monitor sitting at the perforations and run what is called a BHP (bottom Hole pressure build-up) from this information and more they can predict the potential reserves in a given formation. WHile not always exact the predictions should not vary much between different different engineer/geophysicist groups.

All the well logs are shared between everybody with skin in the game. This was true on OBO-1 as well. Certainly many different engineers will be analyzing same.

I believe that your thought about this is misleading just a little bit. The rig and rig workers are not the ones who release the findings to the press, only the op HQ can do that. Which is why the block 1 findings were so important because the word leaked out from the rig itself about the huge find, then was subsequently quashed from the op HQ. The rig and rig workers do not have worries about the amount of hydrocarbons they find, they just do what they are told. But if they do find something unusually large, word gets out, and I think that is what happened with block 1. Or maybe I did not understand your post. But, like anything else, I guess we will have to wait til the movie comes out.
