In layman's terms, this is a good thing, most likely a very good thing. Rogerson and the team are working their plan and under these terms it is very advantageous to shareholders. More time allowed increases equity, cash flow, profitability, and strengthens our positions. Asset sale appears to still be the top priority and again, this extension allows them to finalize a deal at the BEST possible price. It's all good to me.

Hitting the road for Ohio, see you guys Monday! Happy 4th and may God Bless America!

Well said, IMO, this is very good news and gives mgt time to fix all problems pre exit. This additional time will enhance the Company's ability to negotiate better terms re asset sale as potential buyers will not deem them 'under the gun" and weak.

Mad, this extension is a boon for Chemtura. As you well know, extensions are not out of the ordinary...they are par for the course in many cases.I believe the court can grant them an extension up to 18 months from the first petition date.

If they didn't file for the extension, other parties namely the creditors or the shareholders could have stepped up to the plate and filed their own plan of reorganization.

This extension gives Chemtura time to polish up the balance sheet and more leeway to shore up the business (i.e., they can streamline the business via an asset sale!). Chemtura bought themselves some precious and much needed time. They can now constructively work towards a plan of reorganization that will effectively only serve to benefit the shareholders.

The time factor was always Chemtura's Achilles heel...now Rogerson & Co have time to work their magic! I think we may get a bounce next week based on this.

Folks, it's all good...
