ah, but the previous article tells us that by putting more money into the hands of the wealthy, we can be assured that there won't be a market meltdown when boomers start living off their IRAs.

OT -- Hey, it's the weekend afterall!

The generation just retired or about to is the first to have paid into Social Security all their lives, and will be the screwees here, when our glorious government renegs on their promises/commitments.

As far as privatization goes, was not SS created in the first place to protect people from their own profligacy, and wouldn't privatization be like asking the fox to guard the henhouse? (Now that I think of it, we already have the fox guarding the henhouse which is why they ain't no mo' chickens in dere.)

Wonder what AARP and the Grey Panthers will have to say about this. Of course, should the SS burden become too great in future, we may just get a popular campaign to get rid of the elderly who, to the younguns' delight (young people never seem to recognize that one day they, too, may be old), will then likely end up as Soylent Green!
