"...what does 'NSS' mean?" Naked short selling. I'm tickled to run into someone who actually has to ask. It's been the biggest and phoniest excuse in the market for poor stock performance for the last five years or so. Worse yet, when the anti-"NSS" crowd are heavy in a stock, you can bank on lots of irrational trading based on cockamamie theories about the stock performance and the possibility of a short squeeze.
When the shareholders play the NSS card, that's a big red flag. When a company's management starts playing it, bleating about "cert. pulls", NOBO lists, and lawsuits against hedge funds, it's a sure sign that management is inept, devious, stupid, or some combination thereof.
