so the fact that they took hit after hit about family issues makes just one more okay? In football parlance.. it was a late hit. by the way, the letterman joke wasn't about bristol, as bristol wasn't at the yankees game. it was about her little sister. And it wasn't particularly funny.
Palin has dorky politics, and most everyone realizes it. That is such an easy target that her kids can easily be kept out of it, and plenty of material can be generated without resorting to Trig jokes, etc. (want to join in bad taste? well, Trig is just the name of another class that First Dude flunked in high school, har de fucking har)
The Maginot line of political humor was crossed, again. What is next? sick crap about Sasha's first period? I personally find jokes about politician's children disgusting, and anyone with any empathy left after the hate leveled on the Palins needs to examine their own thought processes, and consider what it means to be a liberal that is pragmatic and open minded. It does not include hating on kids, which is abusive.
It moves the line to where it makes it open season on all women in politics, and if you watch closely, you would see that word was quietly passed that Sotomayor has become off limits as well... she is not even a monologue staple anymore; the sad thing is that it is not because she is a woman, but because trashing Hispanics is out of fashion this summer.
If she were another Ruth Bader Ginsberg, all the jokes about broom riding would be in full swing. Anyway, happy summer to everyone, and screw the haters. In the ear. With a rusty nail.
