I dont use Ameritrade, I'm with Fidelity.

However, I agree with your sentiment and want to set up some stop-loss(sells) orders, and stop-limit(buys) if it starts to head south. However, I get:

(008163) The Stop Order you are attempting to place is currently unavailable for this security.

Anyone else with different brokerages have trouble placing such orders?

Retail can not trade pre/post market on OTC. The trading you see going on is between MM's.
