Prudent

Have you done a cost benefit analysis on the purchase of the ballasts?

Cost of the Axis 32W Ballast: $62.88 Not including cost of funds and cost of installation.

Using the figures from the Federal Energy Management Program:

http://www1.eere.energy.gov/femp/procurement/eep_fluor_ballast.html

From the least efficient ballast example in the market, an advertised 70% savings by Axis ballasts over the 15 year expected lifespan would be $185.85. Based on 10 hours per day X 365 days. Also that is a peak figure or high noon level of ambient light over the entire 10 hours.

Of course, that 70% savings figure would be in an environment where the ambient lighting was so powerful that the light fixtures weren't really needed anyway.

In an environment where the offices or rooms in the building were internal and did not have skylights, the savings would be little to nothing. Or, at best, the savings would be about what any other high efficiency ballast would save. Or about $37 over the 15 year lifespan.

Hi efficiency ballasts can be bought for around $22
