I think he means that the rigs that APC has that are capable of drilling at JDZ depths are currently being utilized by APC in the GoM.

Thanks for the clarification—this make a lot more sense than implying that APC wasn’t interested because they have a different corporate focus, which is the way the author's statement came across on my first read.

However, I’m pretty sure APC does in fact have currently available deepwater rigs for deployment in Africa, and hence the author’s assertion simply isn’t true as far as I can tell. Regards, Dew
