Paul, I am reminded of the old saying that 80% of the work is required for the last 20% of the project.
Thus, 70% done has little meaning. (I'm sure it refers to completion of milestones, although we don't really know how complete they are until stuff starts coming together.)
My interpretation... What would your best guess be re: the significance of the 65nm 70% done statement as far as timeframes go? This is a management / marketing number. I have no idea what it means in the real world, but it sure makes me feel like they have made lots of progress and have things well in hand. In a similar vein to Sgolds reply, I always heard the first 90% takes 90% of the time, and last 10% takes the other 90% of the time:-) The next meaningful announcement I would want to hear is for fully functional SRAMs...
