Biz, the beauty of the American spirit is that we could do it if we had to, just not sure that's what the "strategic thinkers" want. The global economy fits better into their overall hands. Further,John Q has become accustomed to going to WalMart for a bunch of his stuff, and the inflationary pressures of reengaging local mfg. would cause severe inflationary pressures.

I've had 20 yrs in defense, and the thought bothers me greatly about what we've done to our manufacturing abilities, but the offset to that is that the more intertwined we become, the more interdependent we grow as well. That said, I don't think this is a squeeze on the Chinese at all, although this is just my own thought.

It looks like a sleight of hand maneuver being attempted by devaluing the dollar the Chinese are forced to place a value on their currency. They are doing so with the Brazilians at this time, that would require further study to understand what value they and the Brazilians place on their currency. It also might explain why the Chinese have started to employ new tactics in their recent war games. A new dimension to study as a possible threat to the U.S. . I am sure our protectors are studying all angels.

I am out for the night GLTY
