Further,John Q has become accustomed to going to WalMart for a bunch of his stuff, and the inflationary pressures of reengaging local mfg. would cause severe inflationary pressures.
I've had 20 yrs in defense, and the thought bothers me greatly about what we've done to our manufacturing abilities, but the offset to that is that the more intertwined we become, the more interdependent we grow as well. That said, I don't think this is a squeeze on the Chinese at all, although this is just my own thought.
