What was really odd is that they were talking about Xeons in the financial trading markets where Sybase had a lot of that space many years ago. I don't know if that's the case but my first introduction to Athlon 64s was when a trader I know told me that he bought one and set it up with multiple monitor displays and a bunch of other software. I asked him what the CPU usage was and he said that he could run QuoteTracker and other software driving four monitors at around 8% CPU usage.
I thought that he was pulling my leg as my percentage was a lot higher than that on my P4M notebook.
The article said that dual-Xeons would be better for financial trading platforms but they apparently didn't do any testing on those platforms. Which has me wondering how they derived their conclusions. If those are Sybase or other database vendor clients, then they should have used database client software for testing.
