the buyer could not legally buy enough shares at the current price to take ownership without a LOI declaring a Hostile takeover. Then, upon issuing the LOI for the take over, the stock price would/should shoot up.
as you all know or should know, stock price has very little to do with company value. stock price is based on perception brought on by a combination of facts and rumors.
in my opinion based on my limited knowledge of this game.
