I live on the island of Kauai.
The only time I was over in Waikiki, was when I was taking my contractors exams.That was for about a week.
I stayed close to my hotel & studied.
Coming from the San Fernando Valley, in Ca. close to Los Angeles,then spending 2 yrs. on our nice little quiet island,
Waikiki, & Honolulu in general, it was eery how much it reminded me of L.A.
Punks & gangs & fights every night in the streets.
Cops, sirens etc.
I couldn't wait to get out of there.
It's a total tourist magnet,& most of the tourist packages seem to come from downtown L.A
Have your parents be careful at night there as they prey on tourists over there, where-as our island barely has any crime.
Sorry I can't help You on the restaurant info, but I'll ask around.A lot of my friends go there quite regularly, to buy the things we can't get here.
If your parents get to Kauai,I recomment "Coconuts", in the town of Kapaa.It's fantastic.(Kauai is a different world than Honolulu, & Waikiki). Aloha, Bentheroofer
