#10363 RE: roni #10362

My gradschool word processor was Latex. You prepared an ASCII text file with formatting tags, and then ran it through the compiler to produced your document. It was perfect for formating a thesis: type setting equations, formatting references, numbering and renumbering figures, etc. But for some reason it was almost impossible to use anything but the standard font, which was a bit strange looking.

With Latex, all the formatting tags were visible and under your control. Word hides the formatting tags and you have no control over them. You never know what crazy thing is going to happen when you cut and paste piece of text with Word. Oftentimes, your whole document, past the point of insertion is reformatted with a new line spacing or font.
