I wouldn't be surprised to see the market rally next week.`Everyone knows the economy has slowed and oil prices are at all time high levels.

On the other hand, there does seem to be a confluence of bad news. I'm looking for a selloff Monday morning followed by a rally. If I'm wrong, I think there is support around 9,000 on the Dow. Still have a little powder dry.

Hi F400, In the last real bear market it took from 1969 to the end of 1974 to get the full bottoming effect. That was a lazier pace than today's market. It probably has already happened.

However, looking at the recovery, it took until around 1983 for the broad indexes to finally equal past highs. 14 years is a long time! 5 years of Bear market followed by 9 years of slow and painful recovery.

Again, we can hope that we've condensed the business cycle a bit since then!!!

PS: I cut my investment teeth in that Kodiak Bear market. It was painful. I can still feel the claw marks!
