I suppose you think it was a coincidence that David Moskowitz put the phrase reverse merger in quotation marks in his report. How often have you seen that done?

And no doubt you think Moskowitz, busy analyst that he is, independently listened to all three CC’s (those from MRK, SGP, and JNJ) to ascertain that all three companies declined to comment on how JNJ might try to “extract a pound of flesh” from MRK/SGP.

Oops—I just noticed that Moskowitz did not actually use the word extract in his report; rather, Moskowitz wrote, “We continue to believe that Johnson & Johnson is unlikely to simply allow the ‘reverse merger’ to pass without getting its pound of flesh.”

Isn’t extract the verb that’s typically used in this idiom? Perhaps Moskowitz did not use the verb “extract” because I had already used it in #msg-37212948 when I said, “JNJ will almost certainly be able to extract some value by challenging the ‘reverse merger’ structure of the MRK-SGP deal…”
