No way, man. There are huge swings these days and highly liquid stocks. Have to disagree a bit there.

The main thing about scalping is you need fairly sizable capitol to do it. It's about making a lot of small gains, 1-2% at a time. Therefore, you're looking at needing to play roughly 10K at a time (at least) and you'll want to do that in the higher price range stocks with very heavy volume so it's easy to get in and out and the drops are not as violent as they are in the lower price stocks (can you imagine having 25K in for a scalp and then watching it take a nosedive like C has a tendency to do? Heart attack city!). A 1-2% return on a 1k play doesn't even cover you trade commission.

To use a sports analogy, it's more Pete Rose than Hank Aaron. No home runs...just a lot of hits. A LOT of hits, several a day (ideally 5-10). AND, also very important to this...very very tight stops to limit potential losses. It's really a technical skill. Very dependent on the intraday chart of the given stock. And once again...you need fairly sizable capitol to make it worth while.

But then again, I could be wrong. I mainly swing trade and play options. Scalping is, as we all know, Yak's specialty. He could answer this much better than I could.
