I think you forgot to click the radio buttons:-)
If you check out the EM64T and click the "productivity" button, you see that linux compile is 13% faster (both on linux), Maya is 8% faster(XP pro vs. XP-64), and Amber is 36% faster (both on linux)...
EM64T is certainly faster in 64b mode for some applications...
