I think the chart is more for gaining perspective than practical use.

I don't think anyone would sink their entire principal of 750k into a single stock in hopes of a 3% gain. It seems kind of irresponsible. I think the most I would ever put into a speculation/swing trade is 20k.

The 3% chart is a paradigm. I wouldn't recommend going all in on one stock and then moving into another. You could diversify slightly. If you split a particular amount 4 ways and they all go up or 3 out of the 4 go up...you've done what you need to do.
