The govt has acutually done a decent job in trying to find the hard bottom in the housing market. It appears we are very close to hitting it right now. In addition, the economy in general is showing signs of hitting bottom and the markets usually predeed that by about six months.
This could be the time for the GSE's, as the govt has made it all but clear that they will be the tools used for at least the remainder of this year to get the housing market running again. By the time the govt revisits the GSE's, the housing market should be expanding and they should be sitting on profits again!
