what couger12 is saying is right, im 45, when I was growing up and trying to get loans, you had to have a job and a down payment and a credit history or else you had to get a cosigner, a couple years ago I was working on an oil rig and there was some young guys who had just gotten hired, (Im in alaska), they were from southern states and had recently been unemployed and they both had been approved for loans for houses for over 150k. They were in their early 20's and unemployed, and you know that soon after they got their loans, the company sold the paper to someone else so they wouldnt be responsible when these guys defaulted, as a large percentage of people who were getting these loans were doing. Thats what has to be stopped. And hopefully bac can help lead out of this mess.

i understand there is a difference between macro economics and personal finance. my previous reply wasn't meant as a rebutle to your comments, more of a tangential rant.

that said, i disagree that loans for automobiles and personal banking are small potatoes.
