Of course you were. Unfortunately "most" investors aren't as lucky as you. If "most" had done that, the crooks running the show would have made sure those "bonds and treasuries" either somehow lost most of their value, or woefully underperformed the rest of the market.
The markets now, are just a means to seperate "most" of the investors from their money.
