Samlam....
Here is what I would have to say to that. I, like everyone else, am a bit anxious about the pps and the appearance that things seem a little slow to be fixed.
BUT...
They have two distribution sites up and working now, and call center support. There is more back end programming connected to those implementations than meets the eye by only looking at the web site. There has to be online queue access to the shippers. The call center folks have to have an admin like access to the data. They are working on the rent-buy stuff. They are working on billing I am sure. There are probably several other things too. On another board, I saw someone refer to a site called muze dot com. I looked at that site and it is a supplier of data relating to movies and games, which means all the movie descriptions, ratings, and images (check it out). The post made it sound like GZFX was going to be using that service and it means working with the database to make sure all the data gets in it correctly and still works with the programming so far.
All this has been happening since there was a 2 or 3 week delay in getting the equipment from IBM and a 3 week delay is huge. Plus, they no longer can just work on this stuff on a development system. Any fixes have to be uploaded to the Akamai servers and propagated across all the servers.
There is a lot more involved than meets the eye. But still, with that said, the only thing the world sees is the web site. It is the only thing that most have to go on to form an opinion. So, the annoying things get hammered by everyone here. I would like to see nothing more than one of the programmers sitting down and hammering those annoying bugs.
One last thing though. I have been getting my DVDs from them in quick fashion. I am putting it in on the web and it is coming out of my mailbox. So, they are doing something right, very right. But I would still like to see the small things looked after, and I am sure they will fix them (and I hope soon to perk up spirits).
