I met a guy once who earned a living guiding "mountain cats." The collars on those dogs were 2k a piece. The cost of the dogs. Priceless he said.
Those collars they have, they can find their dogs when lost. You only kill a dog when you are sure it is not a hunting dog, and it is wild. You can tell.
The people who earn a living in the woods know. People who spend a lot of time in the woods know. gp100 knew. My girl friend knows. Me, it would have to stalk me, and show it was not afraid to attack me. I have found bear dogs before. I called the guy and he came and got them. I was not afraid of those dogs. Sure dogs get side tracked and chase. Some even get lost. But these wild dogs, which I have never seen, are breed on to themselves. I hope I never see one.

Kia,

Thats a real shame about the rancher's dogs. As to their value, you won't get any arguement out of me. There is no price I'd take for our German Short Hairs and American Pit Bull Terriers. They are almost human to us.

As to shooting wild dogs, it's usually the rancher doing it as he's had some livestock killed by some wild dogs, whether Coyote's, Wolves, of Feral's. At least that's how it is in Texas where most of the land is privately owned.

Thanks for the post. I can only imagine how sick that rancher was and still is. Good dogs are in many ways a part of your family.

Thanks Turkey Hunter...I remember all the stir about that file last year. At least the manner by which to restore it (if one had deleted it) showed up on line pretty quickly. Thanks for the heads up on the latest prank.

BTW...I want no part of mounting T-Rex's butt either. LOL
