#3979 RE: Bird of Prey #3977

Why would an admin (statistically speaking) remove a disproportionate number of accounts from one demographic group over another?

You apparently have not personally observed the circumstances and are relying on hearsay.

The better question is "Why would one demographic be less inclined to abide by simple rules than any other?" And it's not really the entire demographic. It'd be more accurate, I suppose to ask "Why are the people less inclined to abide by simple rules over-represented in one demographic and under-represented in another?"

There are numerous possible answers, and every one of them makes infinitely more sense than any conspiracy theory that these people were targeted because they were long a stock that a site administrator was short.

Even when reviewed on a percentage basis, you've terminated far more "touts" than "bashers".

I agree. It is equally true that a larger percentage of "touts" than "bashers" conduct themselves in such a way that they get terminated.

When I accused you of trading with a shorting consortium your first reaction was to curse me and terminate my account.

You know full well that's not true, as does anyone who is reading this exchange. I get accused of being in league with shorts all the time and that doesn't anger me. Dragging my daughter into it angers me immensely.

You've been asked to do so three times now. Another NDD would be pretty damaging in the eyes of the public

You call my denials NDD's, but that doesn't make them so. I made them very thorough.

But since you can only process short and simple, here you go: "I have never shorted a stock on anyone's recommendation and have no intention of doing so."

However, what I decide to do in my accounts is my decision alone and you have no right to insist that I 'swear' not to ever short a stock on anyone's recommendation.

Should you choose not to sue, everyone will have to wonder... was BoP right about Bob?

Four things:

1. "Owner of message board site sues one of its users." Yeah, right. I really want to see that in the news.

2. Proving I was materially damaged by anything you said would be difficult.

3. Personally, I think the conduct of most of the people who publicly bash me reflects well on me. I'd be far more worried about my public image if the likes of Gary Dobry *liked* me. LOL

4. Easy enough to refute these things right here.

Let's revisit this one:

Why would an admin (statistically speaking) remove a disproportionate number of accounts from one demographic group over another?

Why are most Mercedes owners well-educated?

Why are most purchasers of power tools men?

Why are most purchasers of cosmetics women?

Is it true that most or all public and private death threats come from people who are long a penny stock that's tanking but not from people who "bash" the stock while it's going up? If so, why?

Is it true that the people who either can't understand, or are unable or unwilling to comply with a site's rules (eg. profanity) tend more often to be touts than bashers? If so, why?

Why do people who run MLM-touting websites sometimes co-own stock sites with known touts?

If a message-board admin were short a stock and (in your conspiracy theory) didn't want positive opinion about it being posted, would he terminate a handful of such accounts or most of them?

And finally, your argument makes it sound like I've terminated (or suspended) a LOT of accounts. While I will agree that the percentage of terminees/suspendees who professed to be long a stock was very high, the percentage of people who professed to be long a stock but were never suspended/terminated is an even higher percentage.

I maintain that all suspensions and terminations I did at SI were as a result of rules infractions and not one single one was financially motivated.

The assertion that suspensions were financially motivated (which is what your conspiracy theory boils down to) is, in a word, hogwash.

And lest you still believe that I terminated/suspended a majority of the "touts", this was in the WSJ article about me on 6/12/2000:

"Silicon Investor suspends four to five accounts a week, but has terminated only four accounts so far this year."
