Paul, Allen, thanks for the replies & confirmation of my impressions! I see Chris' optimistic report posted just below, but if PCs did so well in Q2 then why were AMD and Intel merely seasonal? Doesn't seem to jive.
Strong demand for personal computers in Europe and replacement purchases by U.S. corporate customers boosted PC shipments by at least 13% and possibly by more than 15% in the second quarter, according to estimates by two market-research firms.
Only works if Intel took a bigger ASP decline than we think (boosting unit sales of low-margin product).
The other interesting thing was the decline in laptop sales in Q2 (from Intel's CC). Has this trend played out?
