spokeshave---as you may know, I spend 1/2 of the yr. in the
remote wilderness of Canada. No roads, no phones, etc. For
the internet, I anchor my pontoon boat off shore of a resort
that has Starband satellite access and get the internet from
my wireless built into my laptop.

Are you saying that your system would work in my situation in
that I have line of sight (about a mile) from that resort at
my cabin? If so, please e-mail me at AlpinejimS@yahoo.com.

I am told that I could pick up Verizon cell by putting up a
high antenna with a yagee (sp?) antenna but the results as to
the internet are quite unsatisfactory given the expense.

If you prefer, please PM me, but I cannot respond to a PM.

Thanks

cheers

PS Guinness is good for you

This was a network for 80 condominiums in six buildings. I took over maintaining it because I had to if I wanted internet. Which required hours a week. When I finally had it with all the down time, and went too wired, I quit maintaining the system. The Condo association soon after ended this service, as it was not working. Learning how to take care of this I talked to the guys that did the install frequently. The biggest challenge with this part was to get in touch with them as they were constantly doing over the phone service to all their other installs. Every one of these is unique and a challenge as you know. Sure, it can be done with a lot of time and maintenance and down time.....
