I think the comment was that IBM wasn't going to offer a 4-way - HP seems to be going gangbusters.

I'm somewhat skeptical about that post - how does a FAB production guy become a CIO?

OTOH, he had some great information when he was posting 5 years ago and I can't remember him ever passing bad information.

I think he was talking about IBM, that was planning on releasing 4-way Opteron server, but now they are reconsidering.

As far as the 4 way Compaq Opteron system, I went to Froogle, and found a number of places selling it, which surprising to me:
