Just saw Gran Torino (finally)

*DON'T READ IF HAVEN'T SEEN YET*

You're right it was appropriate.

IMO it's one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

I noticed the older audience had a better appreciation for the movie than the younger viewers.

I was telling a friend the other day how "men" aren't the same today as they were when I grew up. Clint Eastwood fit the mold of how men use to be. They never whined, cried or ranted the way they do now. They could name every tool made by Craftsman and could fix anything that was broken. They watched sports and drank beer and were the head of the household. They took charge and solved problems.

The first thing I noticed when he finally went to confession was that he didn't confess to killing in the war which I could tell surprised the priest. Why? Because men of honor fought for their country and did it with pride.

Best part of the movie is that both sides learned a lot from the other. The boy got a role model and learned how to be a man and the old guy learned tolerance and friendship. Both sides earned the other's respect.

Excellent ending - unselfish sacrifice so the boy could have a future.

Loved the ending but guessed that the boy would get the car early on in the movie and I bet he takes care of it in the same fashion that the old man did (probably why he didn't give it to his bratty/disrespectful grand daughter).
