Although all the banter about the "meter" has been amusing, I know have a headache. bdahl is correct. ALL the oil goes in the tank (or tanks in some cases). As kelsey alluded to in another post, it is VERY easy to measure what is taken OUT of the tank. That, my understanding, is the way it's done. Or it could be measured when the truck delivers it to the destination. Since THAT is what is sold, it seems that is what would be reported for tax purposes.
