No one ever said the Government had any idea what it was doing in this matter. If they indeed really "had to loan money" based on a companys possible failure from a Friday to Monday time line, then just loan them money. Its taxpayer money loaned, and its taxpayer value they took control of as well. If it was a good idea to make the loan, then why the hell did they need the collateral/preferred stock for anyway?
It really pisses me off that voters have so little real control of what Washington does. The economist currently installed don't anymore have a clue what is needed than they did back in the 30's. It is spending more than collected that has pout us in this position. Spending is not going to do anything but forstall the real cost of the problem. "But hey, let's just get elected" and it will all be ok!
