Joe, good to see they have the right priorities and know what the future of business computing is. The market opportunity is roughly 8 million servers per year. And AMD´s Opteron is their reference architecture. Pretty amazing, if you think about it.
Jhalada - Microsoft shows a preference for AMD64 over Itanium:
This was quite apparent at the recent Microsoft Tech. Ed. conference. It looks like Itanium is fast becoming the "Red Headed Stepchild" in Microsoft's house.
FOR THE FIRST TIME I am worried about Itanium and its very survival. This is not a direct concern, but follows a long series of circumstances capped by a single event. It all makes me seriously question Intel's will to back the architecture.
