Despite industry efforts to keep wireless phone numbers out of any sort of directory, Florida-based MMU is partnering with industry leaders to create what they say may end up being the largest and most comprehensive list of SMS (cell) numbers in the United States. At the present time Mobile Media Unlimited alone has in their database: 296 million Cell Phone Numbers, 100 Million E mails addresses and over 100 Domain Names
The CTIA-The Wireless Association estimates that there are more than 257 million U.S. wireless subscribers to date, and that short messaging will continue to grow as companies integrate their critical business functions and information distribution via wireless."For the first time it is possible to directly target messages to individuals in real time directly to them regardless of where they are," says Anthony Sasso, founder of MMU. "This ability to connect almost instantaneously with consumers will change the face of direct marketing and advertising."
MMU plans to use the database for marketing and public support purposes.
MMU plans to use the SMS database for business-to-consumer promotional purposes. The company also is negotiating with several companies to come up with ways to high-profile the database. "By processing what may be the most complete electronic database of wireless numbers in the United States, MMU is positioning itself to be a major player in this emerging market, which ultimately will dramatically increase our overall company revenue potential," Sasso adds.
