I caught two coons in one trap today. A customer complained of a coon, comming in at night, raiding her pet feeder, she said the raccoon would sometimes take the feeder and throw it into the swimming pool, knock over her plants on the patio, she said the coons would even go swimming in the moonlight, she stated she didn't want it hurt, she just wanted it gone.

First night went by and we didn't catch anything, it was raining, and coons don't seem to be to active in rainy weather.
Next day, the coon closed both trap doors, I asked the lady if the small dab of peanut butter that had I put just inside the door about a foot was missing, and she said yes is was cleaned up. I told her the coon had reached in and was so big it caused the door to shut and it backed out. I asked her if she would take a piece of break, quarter it, put peanut butter on a piece and put it back further in the trap about a foot and a half, she agreed and we hung up. This morning she called and said we got the coon.

I arrived at her house about 8:15AM, since my coon traps are enclosed, I stook the trap up and tried to get a peek thru the tiny slits in the door, U saw a large coon asleep in the trap. I told her this maybe was the biggest coon I have ever caught, seemed like the coon and trap weighed over 60 lbs, you could hardly lift it, it nearly bent the carrying handle. I also noticed the coon was taking up about 2/3 of the trap, I told the lady this coon is huge, she commented that the one she saw was of average size. I shook my head and headed for the truck.

I put the trap on the back of my truck and headed for a release site, when I opened the door a little I hooked a clothes hanger on the door so I could get clear, since I have had coons come out of the traps and head straight for me.

To my surprise, two coons of average size, trotted out of the trap and into the bushes, that explained the weight. I called the customer and she couldn't beleive that I caught two coons in one trap, since she always just saw one. Strange things happen in my world.

Just another day on the job,
