#28377 RE: utilityman #28372

Man, you don't even want to know how pissed I am about that. Let's just say I had it done, but the custodian of our account banned us from moving our funds into that fund, so it couldn't be done.

I am fricken so conservative in that account while beating the SPX by 60% over the past 5-years using only the SPX and OEX and money market, and some upper management edict at the custodian says we can't move the money. Something about moving large sums of money into a tech fund raised red flags.

I've had that account in tech funds for like 20-days out of 5-years, and we made about 12% during those 20-days. The last scalp in January raised the red flags, but they didn't tell me about it until today.

Bottom line is I might have to become a certified investment advisor to get these creeps off my back. Steve says it takes about 40-hours and a test.

The stupid thing is that many of the people who make these calls don't even know what a "stop loss" or "ETF" is, but they're certified.

Man, I am pissed.

I was actually at a lecture I attended for an association I belong to, and it was a certified investment counselor. He was talking about moral investing, and how the S&P had all these immoral companies.

He said if you invest in an index fund that invests in the S&P, you're investing immorally. I asked about ETF's, as they don't buy anything. He didn't know what an ETF was, the idiot. He said if it doesn't buy directly into the company stocks, it's moral. What a moron.

I looked at some of the "moral" funds they were pushing, and it was amazing that while the companies didn't make the "immoral" things (alcohol, tobacco, abortion stuff) they had plenty of retailers on their portfolios that peddled the stuff. There was also one company in their fund who I have first hand information that their upper management goes on sex junkets. That was a moral company. That doesn't even get into the morals of environmental custodianship.

As for the morals of alcohol, I seem to recall Moses and Jesus used to consume it, and many churches serve it. He probably just can't hold his liquor.

Oh, and he didn't have a problem with the morals of the stockbrokers or exchanges where you purchased these "moral" funds. What a crock.
