That's not how ore sampling is done. They drill test holes from numerous locations around the site and then have the samples assayed.

20 to 30 yards? lol That is about like taking a swath out of one's backyard. It would amount to less than a half hour's work for most small scale mining operations. Maybe that is where they got the 1.4 grams of gold.
