Gordon Gekko a Free Man Again
O.G. white-collar crime lords Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken served less than two years each for their insider-trading transgressions, but apparently Gordon Gekko, the fictional star of Oliver Stone's classic mid-1980s period piece, Wall Street, got dealt a much tougher hand than his real-life counterparts. With Wall Street's latest meltdown generating interest in a Wall Street sequel, Variety is reporting that 20th Century Fox is moving forward with the picture, and that the plot "will again center on Gordon Gekko, who has recently been sprung from prison..." Key word, of course, being "recently." Twenty years for SEC violations?!? First order of business for Gekko upon release: Retain new legal counsel!
