Iirc these losses that Williamette inflicted were on the order of $50m and not the many many hundreds of millions that Northwood did. I also think that was more due to the initial megahurtz marketing advantage than anything else and I doubt it could have been sustained in the long run without a potent product like Northwood behind it.
