My Dad wouldn't get away with it now either, but then, I look at so many children whose parents pay absolutely no attention to them and they are discipline cases. I'm not by any stretch saying beat them or slap them across the face, but I always knew 1) why I was getting it, 2) knew I deserved it, and 3) knew that they loved me. We always had a family dinner at the table once Mom got home from work, and they were at every football game and event I ever thought about being involved in. How many kids do you know that have a videography of their life? Anyway, I guess I just feel if used appropriately that it doesn't hurt.....but the 6 year old is more wounded by not being able to go outside and play with her friends. Every child is different. My son is going to try and push the limits, but hopefully, logic will win out with him also.
