#38267 RE: CombJelly #38263

CombJelly, yes I agree that 90nm on 300mm should be an important fallback option. From other posts I see that AMD is hinting again about outsourcing. There are several outsourcing scenerios which are intriguing, and IBM may play a part in this:

1. Advance processor (K8) outsourcing - this can only be IBM. This is a great reason to bring up 90nm on 300mm, at Fishkill rather than Fab 36.

2. Geode outsourcing - this is already a fact, if AMD wants to launch Geode-based Semprons into the thin&light market then they can crank up this outsourcing. (I am not saying that Sempron means Geode, rather that Sempron is a market name which may include Geode processors as part of the mix. This would be an easy way to increase mobile marketshare.)

3. All K7 outsourced - as Fab 30 moves to 90nm K8, perhaps 130nm K7 can be outsourced to fill out the Sempron market. Didn't work last time (UMC) but now the process is much more mature!
