This applies to long-term solutions. However, in order to test, and apply (b4 others do it) new winning solutions (e.g., higher efficiency, lower peak/Watt cost), one has to move fast; very fast. And for this ONLY in-house testing can possible work (Spire Corp., Advanced Materials, and now Intel approach). If you are not aware of the large number of potential competitors to GT Solar, just ask anyone who participated at the recent gathering of solar PV producers in San Diego, and maybe, just maybe you'll understand what I'm talking about.
Yes, I like the potential GT solar has, but their approach IMO won't allow them to compete for too long with the many solar PV manufacturing technology providers.
