I'm doing my browsing on my Dell Inspiron P4M. I bought a pair
of IBM keyboards a while ago because it said that it would work
with USB and most notebooks don't bother with PS2 ports anymore.

The keyboards came (I wanted one for home and one for the
office) and I found that there was a PS2 to USB adapter so I
plugged it in and was ready to go.

Well I found out that the setup drop characters when I type
really fast. Really great for development, huh? I finally
dumped the keyboards and bought a port replicator which I carry
back and forth with me. It has PS2 slots and plugs into USB.

I always use an external KB and mouse hooked into the notebooks.

I have two notebooks on my desk right now and two keyboards and
mice hooked up to them. But this crappy keyboard had to be put
into service until I can find another solution (I don't want
to buy a second replicator port).

The build finished and took about one quarter of the time that
it takes on the P4M. The disks on the two machines are the
same (my external TravelStar); they both have a gig of memory
and the AMD numbering scheme implies that the A64 is about
60% faster than the P4M. BTW, I'm running in 32-bit mode.

Whatever it is, you're right. This thing compiles like lightening.

Microsoft is a big company and you're going to find uneven performance from group to group. I hope somne at AMD reminds
Microsoft that VS .net 2005 better not turn into 2006.
