The distinction between the two events is that AMD depends on selling equity, which is pegged to share price to raise funds for operations. The lower share price gets, the less funds raised, the less ability to keep inventory for share grab.

Intel generates lots of cash, and therefor idiocy on the part of stock traders does not hamper its ability to compete.
